My mother-in-law was visiting, and after she left, the dog started growling and scratching at the ground. I started digging where the dog was barking and found something horrible. 😱😱
My husband and I live in a quiet, peaceful town. He works on a farm, while I live at home, taking care of the garden and doing housework. My mother-in-law lives in the city with her young son, and honestly, our relationship with her never really worked out. From day one, she didn’t accept me. Sometimes she judged me, sometimes she made cutting comments. But I persevered. For my husband. The distance also played a role: we rarely saw each other.
But recently, she suddenly announced she wanted to “escape the hustle and bustle of the city” and came to visit us for a week. She said she missed us. I knew it wouldn’t last long, but once again, my husband insisted.
From the start, she started lecturing me about life. Everything was fine: the soup was too salty, the curtains weren’t ironed, and, according to her, I was raising my five-year-old daughter poorly. She constantly provoked arguments, and on one occasion, she even found a way to get my husband and me into a fight. I couldn’t take it anymore and burst into tears at night. I just wanted it to be over as soon as possible.
When she finally left, I took a deep breath. But the next day, something strange happened.
Our dog, Bucks, the sweetest and smartest dog, suddenly started behaving aggressively. He growled at the empty yard, ran in circles, and then started scratching, barking, and digging in the dirt near one of the flowerbeds. I tried to push him away, but he ignored me. He looked at me and continued his strange behavior.
The next day, he continued. I couldn’t stand it; I went to get a shovel. My heart was pounding: a dog can’t just dig and growl. Something was scaring him. I started digging where he was barking.

A black bag was sticking out of the ground. It was tied. My heart sank as I pulled it out.
There was a horrible smell, and inside were strange objects: strands of hair, an old child’s dress (not my daughter’s!), a doll with a broken head, and also a bundle of photos of me, my husband, and our daughter… with their eyes torn out.
A shiver ran through me. I realized it was something magical, maybe even a curse. Who could have done this?
There was only one answer: my mother-in-law. She was the only one in our garden; only she could have dug a hole while I was cooking in the kitchen or with the child.
I didn’t know what to do. I took the discovery to church. The priest said it was “harm to destroy the family.”
I don’t believe in such things, but what happened to our dog and everything my mother-in-law had said and done in the last few days… it all painted a horrific picture.
Since then, I’ve banned him from entering the house. I told my husband everything. At first, he didn’t believe me, but then he saw the photo and the bag I left as proof. He remained silent for a long time.
And since then, the dog only sleeps by the door, as if he were watching us.
I don’t know exactly what my mother-in-law wanted to do, but I’m sure of one thing: he’ll never cross the threshold of our house again.
