A secretary felt ill at work, so she went outside. She sat down on a bench, closed her eyes, and when she came to, she saw an old man trying to remove a gold bracelet from her wrist. 😱
“Hey, what are you doing? This was a gift from my husband!” The old man looked at her in horror and quietly replied, “You passed out because of this bracelet. See for yourself.” The secretary took a closer look and froze in horror. 😨🫣
Anna felt ill right during a meeting.
A secretary felt ill at work, so she went outside. She sat down on a bench, closed her eyes, and when she came to, she saw an old man trying to remove a gold bracelet from her wrist.
She sat next to the director, as always, writing down every word and trying not to show her fatigue. The meeting room was stuffy; the air seemed thick. Her temples began pounding, and her heart began beating faster than usual. Anna took a deep breath, but it didn’t ease her discomfort. An unpleasant pressure developed in her chest, as if a heavy weight were slowly being placed upon her.

At some point, the room began to spin. Anna grabbed the edge of the table to steady herself and quietly apologized. She stood up, trying to walk straight, but her legs were wobbly. The director asked something, but Anna could barely hear the words.
It was chilly outside. The fresh air hit her face, but it brought no relief. The weakness only intensified. Anna took a few steps and sank exhausted onto a bench near a small park. She closed her eyes, hoping it would all pass.
Her heart was pounding wildly.
When Anna opened her eyes, she saw an old man leaning over her. He was over seventy. He wore a simple jacket, an old hat, and a calm but attentive gaze. He carefully held her wrist, seeming to examine it.
“What are you doing?” Anna asked hoarsely, trying to pull her hand away. “Don’t touch it. This bracelet was a gift from my husband.”
The old man didn’t argue. He only said quietly:
The secretary felt ill at work, so she went outside. She sat down on a bench and closed her eyes. When she came to, she saw an old man trying to remove a gold bracelet from her wrist.
“It’s because of him that you’re feeling bad. Look more closely.”
Anna glanced at the bracelet—the massive gold one she wore all the time. And at that moment, her hair stood on end. 😢😱 Continued in the first comment 👇👇
The gold had turned black exactly where it touched her skin. Not completely, but in patches, as if someone had drawn a dark shadow across it.
“Who are you?” Anna whispered, feeling her insides tighten.
“I’m a former jeweler,” the old man replied calmly. “I worked with gold for forty years. When I saw you were ill, I happened to glance at your hand. The average person wouldn’t notice.”
“What does this mean?” Anna’s voice trembled.
“These are traces of thallium,” he said quietly. “A very insidious poison. It’s invisible to the naked eye. It’s applied in a very thin layer. It’s absorbed through the skin and slowly poisons the person. But gold reacts. It darkens.”
“You mean…”
The old man nodded.
“Whoever gave you this bracelet knew what they were doing. They wanted you to get sick, weaken, and one day simply not be able to stand up.”
Anna looked at the jewelry, then at her hands. An image of her husband flashed through her mind, his cold glances, his strange care lately, and his insistent words: ‘Wear it, don’t take it off. This is my gift.'”
In that moment, she understood everything.
The old man carefully removed the bracelet and wrapped it in a handkerchief.
“You need to see a doctor and the police immediately,” he said. “And don’t ever wear that again.”
Anna nodded silently. She sat on the bench, clasping her trembling fingers, and realized that she had just miraculously survived.
