LIFE STORIES

A huge she-bear knocked on the forester’s door: the old man opened it, unaware of why the wild animal had come and what would soon happen 😨😱

For many years, he had lived alone at the edge of the forest. Once, life was bustling here: friends visited, sometimes relatives came by, a car was in the yard, and conversations could be heard from the house. Over time, all of that disappeared. His wife had died, his son had moved far away and almost stopped writing. The house by the lake became quiet and empty.

The old man had grown used to solitude. In the mornings, he went out on the porch, looked at the forest, listened to the wind through the pines, and stoked the stove. Sometimes moose passed by in the distance or foxes darted across, but wild animals never approached the house.

That morning, he woke before dawn. At first, he thought the wind had knocked a branch against the door. Then there was a dull thud, as if someone had pushed the porch heavily.

The old man put on a warm jacket and carefully opened the door. And he froze.

Right at the threshold stood a huge she-bear. Steam rose from her mouth, and snow glistened on her fur. But the strangest thing wasn’t that.

She was holding a tiny cub in her teeth.

The animal did not growl or snarl. The she-bear simply stood and looked directly at the man. There was no rage in her eyes, only worry.

The old man felt his heart pounding in his chest. Anyone in his place would have slammed the door and hidden inside. Reason told him to do exactly that.

But something in that gaze made him stay. He slowly stepped forward. The she-bear gently placed the cub on the snow.

And at that moment, the wild animal did something that made the old man finally understand why it had come to his house 😲😱

The little bear cub’s body barely moved.

When the old man leaned toward the cub, he noticed a thin metal loop on its paw. It was a poacher’s trap that had deeply embedded into the skin. The cub barely moved and was breathing heavily.

The old man carefully opened the loop and freed the paw. Then he lifted the small animal and carried it into the house. He placed the cub closer to the stove, covered it with an old woolen blanket, and began gently rubbing it to warm it up.

The mother bear sat by the porch the whole time and didn’t leave.

After a while, the cub stirred slightly and opened its eyes. The old man picked it up and carried it back outside.

The mother bear approached, gently took her cub, and suddenly touched the man’s hand with her muzzle.

Then she turned and slowly walked into the forest.

The next day, the old man found several such traps in the thicket. He removed them all.

After that encounter, he began once again to patrol the forest every day, just like many years ago.
