LIFE STORIES

“It’s okay, your cancer can wait,” the husband said, taking all the money for the treatment and giving it to his mother for the reception. While his mother beamed in a new dress, his wife suffered in agony. 😢😱

When Maria heard the doctor’s diagnosis, her world collapsed. Cancer. She desperately needed treatment, otherwise her chances were slim. She remained silent the entire way home, her mind consumed by one thought: Should she tell her husband? Was he worried about her? Would he support her?

Her husband did support her. For the first two days.

On the third day, he came in without knocking.

“Listen… Mom wants to celebrate her anniversary with me. There’s a restaurant, music… you know what I mean.”

Maria lifted her head—bald from chemotherapy, deathly pale, barely breathing.

“But… the medication… we can’t give it to you right now…”

He sighed irritably:

“Fine, your cancer can wait. It’s our anniversary! Mom has worked hard for me her whole life!”

An hour later, he transferred all her savings to his mother’s account. Every single cent. Maria was left with an empty account and didn’t say a word… she simply locked herself in the bathroom and wept quietly in pain—physical pain and the pain of betrayal.

And that evening, her mother-in-law, beaming in a new red dress, raised her glass and exclaimed:

“Thank you, my son! He’s a treasure, he does everything for me!”

The laughter around the table sounded like mockery. But at that very moment, she received a message whose contents horrified her. 😱😢 Continued in the first comment 👇👇

A message appeared on the screen: “URGENT: Overdue medical bills. Patient Maria P…. Failure to pay the full amount could result in death.”

Her eyes widened, but before she could say anything, the second part of her daughter-in-law’s plan kicked into gear.

Maria had previously installed an app that tracked all her banking transactions. When her husband transferred all the money to his mother for the anniversary dinner, she clicked “Send notification to all family contacts.”

This included the groom’s relatives, friends, colleagues, and even the guests invited to the anniversary celebration.

A few hours before the dinner, Maria sent photos of receipts, medications, and a doctor’s report to the family chat. She signed it simply:

“You’re all celebrating today. I’m fighting for my life.”

The guests began reading the messages one by one. A murmur rippled through the room. Some rose from the table, others glared disapprovingly at the evening’s hero.

And just as his mother-in-law opened her mouth to defend herself, her brother burst in—stern, as always, direct.

“Is that true? Did you steal money for the treatment? Did you throw a feast at the expense of a sick woman?”

Silence fell over the room.

His mother-in-law turned pale, and her husband tried to intervene, but his friends hissed at her:

“Are you crazy? She could have died!”

“No man behaves like that!”

Within minutes, he had gone from being the family’s “favorite son” to a disgrace.

Maria sat trembling on the sofa at home, but for the first time in a long time, she smiled. Not maliciously, but calmly. She had regained her dignity.

The next morning, she received a notification: “A transfer has been credited to your account.” The amount was three times the value of what was stolen. All the guests, relatives, and even some of her mother-in-law’s employees sent money to help with her treatment.

And her husband? He tried to justify himself, calling and writing. But Maria was prepared. She filed for divorce.
