LIFE STORIES

Every night, the nurse heard screams coming from Ward No. 7 when a strange man visited an elderly patient. One day, unable to bear it any longer, she hid under the bed to find out what was going on.😱😨

What she saw truly terrified her. 😢

For several days in a row, the nurse had been hearing strange sounds coming from Ward No. 7. They were screams. Not loud—in fact, muffled, stifled, as if the person was afraid of being heard. The sound always appeared around the same time—closer to night, when the hallways were empty and the lights grew dimmer.

She would stop in the middle of the hallway with a bucket and listen. The hospital was uneasy enough, but this crying seemed to cling to her nerves. It didn’t sound like a normal moan of pain.

The nurse had been working there for a long time. The work was hard, the pay was poor, but she endured it. She grew accustomed to the smells, the night shifts, and the pain of others. But Ward 7 began to bother her more and more.

An elderly patient lay there—quiet, tidy, always grateful for help. She had a broken hip and was on bed rest. She rarely complained, only looking at the floor more and more often and flinching at loud noises.

And then a strange visitor appeared.

The man came in the evening. Always alone. Well-dressed, confident, he spoke calmly and politely. He introduced himself as a relative.

After his visits, the elderly patient changed: her eyes turned red, her lips began to tremble, her hands grew cold. One day, a nurse even noticed a bruise on her wrist.

She tried to find out more, but the patient immediately looked away and whispered that everything was fine.

Coworkers advised her not to pry.

«It’s none of your business. He’s a relative, so he has the right,» they told her.

But the crying returned again and again.

One evening, the nurse heard footsteps outside the room. Then muffled voices. He spoke harshly. The elderly patient muttered something, as if making excuses. There was a dull sound. And a short cry.

That night, the nurse couldn’t sleep.

And she devised a plan to find out the truth. If no one wanted to see, she would see.

The next time, she entered the room early. The lights were dim, the patient was asleep. The nurse sank to the floor and crawled under the bed with difficulty. Dust, cold linoleum, rusty springs overhead. She was terrified.

Footsteps in the hallway. The door creaked. He entered.

The nurse saw only his shoes and the edge of the bed. First, silence. Then his voice. He was saying something to an elderly patient, slowly and insistently. She began to cry.

And then something happened that took the nurse’s breath away. 😱🫣 Continued in the first comment 👇👇

At first, he spoke calmly. Very calmly. He explained to the elderly patient that the house would «lose» anyway, that she didn’t need it alone, that she had to sign the papers. He said that if she didn’t do it nicely, he would «help.»

The elderly patient cried. She begged him to leave her alone. She said she wouldn’t sign anything.

Then his voice changed.

He leaned over the bed and began threatening. He said she had medications she had to take. That he knew how to make it so the doctors wouldn’t notice. That if she persisted, she would get worse. Much worse.

The nurse held her breath.

She saw him take out a syringe. Not a hospital one. A different one. Dark, unmarked. He began administering the injection, despite her resistance. The elderly patient screamed, her hand falling limply onto the sheet.

The orderly was overcome with horror.

She jumped out from under the bed, screaming, and yanked the door open. There was a commotion, and nurses and the doctor on duty came running. The man was detained on the spot. The syringe was confiscated. The documents were found in his bag—ready-made, with space for a signature.

It later turned out that the injections weren’t medication. They were the very reason the elderly patient’s condition was rapidly deteriorating.
