LIFE STORIES

Before leaving on a business trip, I forgot to tell my husband that the video camera in the living room had been fixed, and when I returned home and reviewed the recordings, I was horrified by what was really going on in our house 😢😱

Before leaving on a business trip, I forgot to tell my husband one important detail: the video camera in the living room had been fixed. I didn’t think much of it at the time, just waved my hand and left. And I should have.

When I returned, I suddenly wanted to check the camera’s recordings. The repairman said everything was working, but I decided to check for myself. I was going to erase the recordings—the camera was still installed “just in case.” At the last moment, I changed my mind and pressed play.

I stared at the screen and couldn’t believe my eyes. It was our living room. The very same one we’d recently renovated ourselves. I was so proud of that space. Hidden behind one of the shelves was a safe that only my husband and I knew about. We kept money and important documents in it, so we decided to install a camera

I was on a two-week business trip and couldn’t even imagine what was happening while I was away. The worst part was, when I returned, there was no sign of anyone in the apartment. If it weren’t for the camera, I would never have known anything.

My husband discovered the camera’s malfunction. He insisted I take it to a repairman, certain the repair would take more than a day, maybe even a couple of weeks.

But it turned out to be much simpler. The repairman fixed the problem in less than an hour. Nothing serious, just a simple glitch.

I didn’t tell my husband about it, not because I wanted to test him or incriminate him. It simply didn’t matter to me. I couldn’t even imagine him having a secret. The camera was an ordinary household item, easy to forget, especially before an urgent business trip.

On the recording, I saw my husband coming home, the front door closing behind him. And then something happened that terrified me 😱😲 Continued in the first comment 👇👇

My husband wasn’t alone. He was with a man I hadn’t seen before. They calmly walked into the living room, sat down on the sofa, and started talking, as if discussing the weather.

— Doesn’t this camera record anything?

— No, it hasn’t worked for several days.

— Ah, I see. What did you want to talk to me about?

— You have to rob my apartment.

— What do you mean?

— Literally. My wife must think we’ve been robbed. I really need this money now, but she mustn’t know anything.

— Did something happen?

— Yes. My mistress is pregnant. Now she’s threatening to tell my wife and relatives everything, demanding money. A lot of it. We have savings, but my wife can’t find out about it.

I watched those videos over and over again, rewinding, pausing, listening to every word. The man I trusted, the one I lived with, the one I made plans with, turned out to be a stranger. It just didn’t fit in my head.

That same evening, I decided not to put anything off. When my husband returned from work, I walked up to him, looked him straight in the eyes, and calmly said:

“Before I left, I forgot to tell you that the camera was fixed.”

He turned pale instantly. I saw fear flash in his eyes. He understood everything without further ado.

I didn’t explain or yell anymore. I simply said what I felt:

“You can take all my savings and get out of my house.”

Sometimes the truth turns out to be more terrifying than any guess. But even more terrifying is living with a person who is willing to ruin your life for the sake of his own lies.
