The grandson stood at the edge of the pier, smiling as if he was about to do something harmless.
The grandson pushed his grandmother into the lake, fully aware that she could not swim and feared water, just for a joke: the relatives stood nearby, laughing, but none of them could imagine what the woman would do once she got out of the water.
— Grandma, remember you said you can’t swim and have always dreamed of learning?
She nervously adjusted her scarf and looked at the water. The lake seemed dark and cold.

On the pier, they were laughing.

The laughter gradually died down.

The grandson stopped smiling for the first time.

The son stepped forward.
