Part 2: The Full Story
The boarding was swift and surgical. Men in bespoke suits and maritime officers swarmed the deck. At the front was Arthur Henderson, my Chief Legal Officer.
Richard rushed forward, purple with rage. «Get off my boat! This is private property!»
Henderson ignored him, walking straight to me. He bowed his head in a gesture of profound respect. «Madam President,» he said, his voice carrying over the wind. «The foreclosure papers are ready for your signature.»
The silence was absolute.

«President?» Victoria shrieked. «She’s a barista! She manages a coffee shop!»
«Ms. Vance,» Henderson articulated, «is the majority shareholder of Sovereign Trust—the bank that holds the mortgage on this yacht, your Hamptons estate, and your failing manufacturing plants. Which you haven’t paid in three months.»
I stepped forward, moving past the spot where Victoria had tried to push me. I signed the heavy, cream-colored documents with a gold fountain pen right on the table next to Liam’s beer.
«Captain,» I told the officer, «remove these trespassers from my vessel.»
Liam finally found his voice. He stepped towards me with a manipulative, charming smile. «Babe… that was amazing! You really showed them. We can run this empire together. Think of what we can do!»
I looked at the man who watched me almost drown and worried about the upholstery. «There is no ‘we,’ Liam. You watched them push me and you adjusted your sunglasses. You bet on the wrong horse.»

The officers grabbed his arms. He didn’t fight; he went limp, shouting my name as he was dragged toward the police boat. «Elena! You can’t leave me with nothing!»
«You already have nothing, Liam,» I said. «Your inheritance is zero.»
As the police boat peeled away with the crying remnants of the family, I turned to the captain.
«Set course for the open sea,» I said, breathing in the fresh salt air. «It smells like cheap gin and entitlement back here. I need to clear the air.»
